Oakley Motorcycle Club

Well, another busy summer for Oakley Motorcycle Club, most certainly the busiest yet! The manufacturer theme nights continued complimented by our motorcycle dealer sponsors being present and judging the best bikes. Thanks to the summer heat wave we only had to postpone one of the ten theme evenings due to predicted inclement weather and that was back in May! Every Thursday theme night right through from June to the Finals night on 9th August had exceptional weather meaning we were having between 250 and 330 motorbikes in attendance.

So the ten theme evenings led to the final night on 9th August whereby we were lucky enough to secure the services of a legend of world motorcycle racing from the 80’s, the 1983 and 1985 World 500 and 250 Grand Prix Champion Freddie Spencer from Louisiana, USA. Feddie was kind enough to judge the final and present the winning shield, unfortunately the heat wave didn’t last up to that night and after a day of rain, it finally stopped by 4.30pm and dried up. Thankfully we were able to hold the judging and have the presentation before the heavens opened up again ten minutes after the winner Kevin Martin from Clapham received the winners shield and a £100 food and drink voucher kindly donated by Oakley Sports & Social Club for his immaculate 1978 Yamaha RD400.

A very big thank you to all our sponsors for their support through the season ….
